Neuropsychological Services
Dr Silva offers specialist neuropsychological assessment, psychometric testing, treatment and rehabilitation for people affected by concussion and other acquired brain injuries, functional neurological disorder (FND), and neurodegenerative conditions.

His work spans the interface between neurology and psychiatry, exploring the complex relationships between brain function, cognition, emotions, behaviour and physical symptoms. Assessment helps make sense of these difficulties and their impact on everyday life, guiding treatment and rehabilitation that support adjustment, independence and quality of life.
A Specialist and Individualised Approach
Dr Silva takes a thoughtful, collaborative approach, recognising that each person brings their own history, strengths and priorities. He considers medical history alongside personal experiences, relationships and wider circumstances, taking time to understand what matters most to the individual and what they hope to gain from support.

Consultations offer space to discuss concerns openly, ask questions and explore options together. Information is explained clearly, with opportunities to reflect and agree meaningful goals at a manageable pace. Care is shaped around each person’s preferences and needs, drawing on existing strengths and reviewing the approach as circumstances evolve. Where helpful, and with consent, partners or family members can also contribute.

Neuropsychological Assessment
An initial neuropsychological assessment explores how neurological, psychological and everyday factors may be interacting. Dr Silva reviews relevant medical and therapy reports before meeting with the person for a 90-minute consultation focused on their history, current difficulties, wellbeing and goals.

Following the appointment, he provides a comprehensive written report bringing together his clinical opinion, neuropsychological formulation and recommendations for treatment, rehabilitation or further assessment.Â

Psychometric Cognitive Assessment
A psychometric cognitive assessment uses carefully selected, standardised tasks to examine areas such as memory, attention, processing speed, language, visual perception, planning and problem-solving. Dr Silva interprets the results in the context of the person’s educational, cultural, psychological and neurological background, rather than relying on test scores alone.

The service includes test selection and administration, scoring, clinical interpretation, feedback and a detailed written report with practical recommendations for everyday life, work, study, treatment or rehabilitation.Â

Neuropsychological Treatment & Rehabilitation
Neuropsychological treatment and rehabilitation supports people experiencing cognitive, emotional or everyday difficulties following neurological illness, brain injury, concussion, FND or other neuropsychiatric conditions.

Dr Silva combines psychological therapy with practical rehabilitation strategies tailored to the person’s needs and goals. Work may focus on fatigue, memory, attention, planning, emotional regulation, confidence, identity, relationships and returning to meaningful activities.
